Hope Is An Anchor – The Anchor Holds

Hebrews 6: 18  We… “have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19  Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; 20  Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus…”

The Anchor holds because of where it is fastened, very securely, within the veil in Heaven. It did not sink to the bottom of the ocean floor, but instead; “Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:” (Eph. 1:21) within the veil.

The Anchor is SURE and STEADFAST: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and my Father are one.”

The storms of life will come and go. During a storm at sea, the winds blow strong. Strong winds generate waves. The waves of immorality, violence, greed, godlessness, complacency, apathy and so much more, crash in around us continually. The world is filled with wickedness: (Isa. 57: 20 “the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. 21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.”)

Yet, even in the midst of life’s storms, we are anchored to higher things. Our Anchor holds. He is sure and steadfast.

This Hope is real. This Hope is relevant and it is an everlasting Hope.
